A New Year, A New Scope
Late nights, cheesy titles and my new social media activity
I think I should introduce myself again. It’s been a while.
My name is Sree. I’m a writer and photograper. I started this Substack so I could share a bit of my life and thoughts on Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease (YOPD) which I was diagnosed with years ago.
I started with this goal in 2017 to raise awareness which is when my dear friend Ari created the logo you see in my profile and when I came up this name. This was before my ADHD diagnosis, which came years after my YOPD diagnosis. That later diagnosis explained very nicely why my 2017 efforts didn’t take off! 😂
There are currently over 10 million people in the world who are said to have Parkinson’s Disease. By the year 2050, it is projected that 25 million people will have the disease with India being the second highest, USA the third highest and China the first.
Regarding ADHD, it is estimated that 15.5 million adults in the United States have this condition. And in terms of how humans interact with technology many people have inattentive type behaviours that are often typical of ADHD.
Both ADHD and Parkinson’s Disease have a commonality in that a major indicator of these conditions is a lack of dopamine in the brain.
Another commonality is that women, and people of color, brown/black/asian folk, are underrepresented and vastly understudied. Especially women of color.
As I have both, plus being South Asian, you might say I have the double fisted executive dys-functioning of a bad Bollywood item number. 😂
I hope to maintain this Substack to raise awareness on both counts and bits of my life in general, as relevant. And to also improve my writing! Encouragement is highly appreciated. Because I never know what my ADHD will do!

And if you get to the end of this, leave a comment letting me know and I’ll throw your name in the raffle pool for an art print! My ADHD made me say that! 🙂
Fingers crossed that I can maintain these efforts :)
Cheers! Sree

Nice post, Sree. I laughed at the "ADHD" made me do it! Great to see you're in good spirits thought. and really looking forward to 2026.
Sree! Happy new year friend. Love your post. What can we do to have there be more research on these topic areas? xoxoxo
